Isuzu Repair

Isuzu Repair
Creech Import is Raleigh’s leading Isuzu repair shop. We provide maintenance and repair for all Isuzu makes and models in North Carolina. Although Isuzu makes fantastic products, all vehicles will experience problems as they age. Regular and professional maintenance can help avoid more serious issues with your Isuzu later down the road.
Isuzu is best known for its mid to large-sized 4 x 4 Sport Utility Vehicles (SUVs) such as the Rodeo, Trooper, VehiCROSS, and Ascender. They also make small SUVs such as the Amigo and Axiom. The experts at Creech Import handle repairs for all sizes of Isuzu SUVs. In recent years, many Isuzu Rodeos and Troopers have come through our shop. This is because of the popularity of these makes in the late 1990s and early 2000s. In the early 1990s, the Isuzu Rodeo was an extremely popular choice amongst the narrow selection of sport SUVs on the automotive market.

Isuzu Trucks

Isuzu also produces trucks in all sizes. Larger models include the i-280, i-290, i-350, and i-370. These trucks are distinguished in both their cab and engine sizes. Isuzu also sells the Hombre, which is a small truck comparable to a Ford Ranger.

Aside from trucks and SUV’s, Isuzu also makes a minivan called the Oasis, and a compact car called the Stylus. Although Isuzu no longer makes cars, our mechanics are familiar with all makes and models of Isuzu’s consumer-grade vehicles.

Many problems seen with Isuzu vehicles reside in the engine. Oil leaks, broken pumps, and belt issues often go unnoticed by drivers. Such problems can be sneaky and lead to extremely serious engine damage. Overheating is a common issue with all Isuzu vehicles. Consumers should always check fluid levels and belt security regularly.

Isuzu Owners in Raleigh

Raleigh’s harsh weather necessitates salt and gravel to melt icy roadways. These chemicals and rocks team up to tear up the bodies and undersides of all makes of vehicles. Isuzu owners should be especially precautious and wash their cars regularly to avoid damage to the exposed metallic parts on their cars, trucks, and SUVs. Our staff can find parts such as door handles, window and lock switches, and other interior or electronic Isuzu parts.

Specific Isuzu Problems

1998-2002 Isuzu Trooper 3.5 V-6 engine.

Check engine light on. Code P0401

The EGR valve on the Isuzu Trooper is designed to reduce NOX gas that occurs when the engine exhaust is at elevated temperatures at highway speeds and accelerating. NOX is one of the emission gases that the EPA regulates on motor vehicles. Under certain load conditions, the EGR or exhaust gas recirculation system will dump engine exhaust back into the intake to reduce oxygen content, reducing combustion efficiency thus reducing exhaust temperature.

Periodically the ECM will open the EGR valve when not needed and monitor the oxygen sensor to verify its operation. If the flow of exhaust isn’t great enough, the oxygen sensor will not send the anticipated signal to ECM and the check engine light will come on storing a code P0401, insufficient exhaust flow. This is normally caused by a clogged tube that runs from the EGR valve, inside the intake plenum, terminating behind the throttle body. This tube on Isuzu Trooper is somewhat small and can clog with carbon over time. Removing the EGR valve and throttle body to access the tube for cleaning is necessary once diagnosed.
